Hello everyone.
I am not sure how to do this, but how do you convert OGG files into MP3 format? OGG files can only be played in Winamp. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!

There's a free program called Switch which is produced by NCH Swiftsound and is quite accessible. It'll convert most any file from one filetype to another, though the sound quality goes down a bit when you're going down from ogg to mp3. You can find it and several other free audio programs at:

Good luck.

Yes, Switch is really good. I can also put the setup file up here so you can just just click on the link so you can download it. I assume that you use Windows right? If so, I will put the link here. The link is

There is also a plus version of Switch that you can try out as well. The plus version has more features, and I don't think it is that expensive.

I vote for Switch. I love it.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I wonder why the sound quality goes down a little bit when switching to mp3? That sounds really cool. I wish the BrailleNote plays OGG files! At least they play mp3 and WMA format.

I recommend CDex, google for it.
You only select reencode compressed audio file, then select your ogg file and It'll be mp3. You can set lots of settings - such as min and max bitrate etc.
I have no problems with accessibility, and it has allso portable version. It's allso mainly ripping program and it can record and play audio.
It's great.

I think I have CDex on my laptop.

If you have jaws set to read out the file extensions, you can just rename the file and take out the aak and put in mp3, then press enter.

Oh I knew that, but every time I do that and open that in windows media player, it won't play!

Um, Macy, that won't work... like I've told you over and over again, do a google search for it... also, there's an ogg codec for windows media player on my website...

I think people have pretty much covered this topic with sensible suggestions. I myself prefer CDex but there are several programs out there that will convert OGG files to MP3. However I did just want to jump on and say that simply changing the file extention, as harmony has suggested, will not work, so don't bother to do that. It would be a waste of time and effort.

Goldwave is very good as well and it converts it. good choice to want to convert it to OGG, much better quality and less memory space.

Hi,
The executible setup file that you get for Switch is 390 KB for the free version.
once installed, the free version takes up 1.37 MB of HD space.

That really isn't that much hard drive space. So if you're worried about hard drive space, don't worry.
